I downloaded the 10.5.3 update from apples update utility. When I logged off to install the update, it told me that the update data could not be verified. I pressed ok, and my computer restarted. Now it hangs at boot. It stays at the gray apple logo with the spinning loading indicator under it. I've left in on for over 3 hours and it has not booted up. Do you have any suggestions on how one could fix such an error?

2 ways: either reinstall the original Mac OS X with the CDs. or manually format your disk.

For years and years they have recommended you Repair Permissions Before and After any Install.
