I currently use Norton Internet Security 2009, but Comcast offers free Mcafee since I have cable service through them. Is one better than the other?

Anyone who says Norton is good is certifiably insane and can safely be ignored.

The McAfee version that Comcast offers for free is not the newest and current version, but an older one. So I wouldn’t like that.
The Norton Security 2009 is a new and much better software than previous years that Norton has offered. PC Magazine picked it as their choice for best security software, read it here:

I agree with them, as I bought and tested it too, and I like it also. It is much lighter, means it does not slow down a PC or robs you of resources. Provides excellent protection and security.
I definitely will pick Norton over McAfee.

Norton Internet Security 2009 is far better than McAfee, hands down. It’s much lighter than previous versions, using only 7MB of system RAM. McAfee uses several times that and the protection still lags behind. Stick with Norton, you’ll be much happier.
