I’m going to install AVG8, Spybot Search and Destroy, Adware, and Windows Defender. Should this cover everything that my Norton free trial covered? Norton touted that they protect when you type in a password or important account information as being protected under their software and will the above do the same? My final question is do I need to unload Norton from my computer before downloading AVG8 and the spyware programs? Thanks

They all sound great. Yes, do uninstall Norton. I prefer your choices over Norton anyway. Too many bad experiences with it early on, so never considered it again.

You must uninstall Norton before you install your the anti-virus of choice in order to reduce problems and save on disk space. AVG8, Spybot, Ad-Aware and Windows Defender will protect your PC. I used all of them (except AVG8, I use Avast) for my Windows PC and I my machine hasn’t experience any problems from neither malware/spyware nor viruses.

Firstly,..did you like the Norton Trial Version?
You can stick with the Norton 60 day trial,..but you will need to now pay for it to get the full years cover.
If you want to use the Downloaded the Versions you have chosen,..then you will need to Un-install Norton as you can't have them on at the same

I haven't used AVG, but it looks like a good replacement for Norton. If you're installing additional anti-malware software, use them for occasional scans and turn off the real-time protection features. When multiple programs are protecting the systen at the same time, they can interfere with each other or even protect the system against each other.

Do not install that many security programs, this will hurt the system more than it would help. You only need avg, how ever maintaining system security is much more than just install a malware protection, you also must lock down vulnerable areas in the system plus maintain system & program updates.
If you like AVG then you should by the next lvl up for the complete malware protection. If you or anyone you know has any computer issues or questions check out http://www.nicklockard.com for more help
