After uninstalling Norton, wireless internet doesn’t work.?

I decided to change my antivirus and firewall from Norton to ESET smart security. After uninstalling Norton I am unable to connect to the internet, either with wireless or through an ethernet cable.
A technician from my internet provider came by my house and tried to fix it but he said that it's a problem with my computer as he was able to connect with his computer.
He said that he heard this happening when uninstalling a security program and to google for a solution as he wasn't knowledgable with Vista.
