I was stupid and clicked on a link in Yahoo Answers that directed me to the “answer”. Turns out, it was a link directing me to antivirus xp..it took me to the website and a pop-up asked me if I wanted to download it. I clicked “no”. But on the website, it already started to download automatically, I quickly exited the page before the download finished and shutdown my computer after copying some files over to my memory stick.
My Questions:
-I did not let the website finish downloading the virus/spyware, could I still be infected?
-are the files that i copied to my memory stick, safe to open on my other computer? (they are really important documents)
I’m not sure if I am infected or not, because I haven’t restarted my other computer. (a little scared to do so). But I am planning to install AVG and Malwarebytes, would that be enough to get rid of this virus?
-Should i just buy Norton Antivirus tomorrow? Or would it be useless?

AVG is a good program so if there is anything on your computer it should pick it up and put it in the vault, if it does pick up a infection and places it in the vault, leave it in there for a few weeks as it might have put a program your computer needs to run properly. If this would be the case you go into the virus vault and reinstall the file. Leaving viruses in the virus vault keeps them safe and emptying the virus vault deletes the virus off your computer permanently. I don’t know why i’ve left such a long answer but hope it helps

Antivirus 2009 is a clone of XP ANTIVIRUS. (antispyware xp 2009 and many other clones it has) These are rogue spyware programs, Antivirus 2009 uses fake warning popups, fake security alerts to scare and trick user into buying a “full” version of Antivirus 2009 that costs you 30 $ or even 49 $. it is scam. you can find how to remove these antivirus xp programs at the link below
