Another Firefox Q?

May 30th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I have a portable version of Firefox 2…14 anyway, I'm at the public library and need to install Adobe Flash Player, and it won't allow me to do so. It just reads, installation unsuccessful.

See here - under Installing Plugins (Flash etc)
      http://portableapps.com/support/firefox_portable#plugins

you can either install the flash.xpi to your portable firefox; or if that fails wait till you get home and:
"1. Install the plugin in a local copy of Firefox (on your hard drive)
      2. Locate your plugins directory (usually C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\)
      3. Copy the plugin you need from there to your FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins directory (Some Examples: For Flash, copy NPSWF32.dll… for Shockwave, copy np32dsw.dll)
      "

This site seems to suggest you also need to copy the file
      "flashplayer.xpt"
