antivirus?

my 6-month norton AV subscription ended. I was wondering what would be a good, free replacement for download. (i don't care if it will only last a year or something without paying, i just need something.)
i also have already spybot, but thats anti-spyware, not anti vrus, right? Do i need spybot and something else. or will they fight against each other?
