I currently use Eset NOD32 2.7 as my anti-virus. I've also used Kaspersky 7.0.1.125 before and they both have served me incredibly well.
What I'm wondering about is if AVG Anti-Malware 7.5.0.519 is actually better than NOD32 that I'm using right now. I know that ESET has upgraded all of their products to 3.0 but I personally haven't yet.
I've looked at anti-virus comparisons for Feb 2008:
and it seems that AVG got a higher rating than NOD32.
AVG: 98.1%, NOD32: 97.7%
My question is if I should switch to AVG because of the higher detection rate.
Thanks goes out to anyone who replies ![]()

I use AVG free, and i wouldn't bother changing from nod because that .4% accounts for almost nothing and its more than likely that you'd never get that particular virus anyway

NOD32 is known for the best suite that uses the least amount of system resources. In my opinion, once you've used NOD32, why would you ever switch.
It has passed 49 out out 54 VB100 awards, which is the only credible benchmark out there. AVG has passed 21 times and failed 22 times, though it has passed 6 six times in a row now.
That test you quoted is for manual scanning. The 1 or 2% difference won't matter on the next scan. The important thing to look at is realtime protection, where from the same benchmark but from November2007 (av-comparatives), AVG performs pitiful but Avira and NOD32 are the only good ones. Realtime protection is what matters to most people.
Use this site for NOD32 or ESET smart suite installation (smart suite includes firewall and antispam). Follow the guide for updates
