I have mcafee installed which i got for free, but its a resource hog and it slows down my computer by a lot and i was wondering is there a way to get nod32 for free and/or a free antivirus program, firewall, spyware, worm,trojan, etc. Is avast! 4 Home Edition Download any good

Yes you can. Go to download.com or do a search for it. You must uninstall McAfee. Before you uninstall you have to go into the icon control on the taskbar and disable or turn it off. Then it will uninstall.

I agree, McAfee is a resource hog, and it doesn't pick up too many viruses. If you're looking for free programs, I'd go with these, as I'd swear by these:
1. Avast! Antivirus Home Edition. It's a great program that's really user friendly, and it picks up a lot of viruses/trojans/worms.
2. Ad-Aware 2007, as it is a great program for picking up spyware, adware, malware, and viruses. It's also very user friendly, and is very powerful.
3. Spybot-Search and Destroy. It's not as great of a program, but it tends to pick up everything that Ad-Aware doesn't. If Ad-Aware doesn't pick up everything, get Spybot.
4. ZoneAlarm. It's a free firewall that has loads of power, and blocks everything that could harm your computer. Extremely user friendly, too.
Keep in mind that the first 3 are resource hogs while scanning, but not at any other time. I'd say that for free programs, these 4 will keep you pretty well protected on the internet. I really don't care for nod32. I tried it for a while, and it seemed to do more damage to my computer than good. It didn't seem to in the beginning, but in the long run, it's not too good for your computer. I'd say go for the 4 that I mentioned, and run the online scanner Trend Micro house call now and then. You will want to uninstall Mcafee…Not good to have two antivirus programs running….
AVG is a good free antivirus…Ditto with Avast…Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware are both good spyware/trojan/worm programs…..

actually mcafee is the best according to me but u should register or it will e creating problems 4 u
