Which is the best anti virus software for computers. I don't have any and was wondering which is the best. The only one I know is Norton and Iv'e heard that it is bad?
I don't mind having to pay for it.

avg is free and very good in my opinion. i've used it for years and have never had an issue. go to download.com to find it. while you're there, check out zonealarm for a free firewall (if you don't have a firewall) and get superantispyware (free version) too.

Don't use Norton it stinks. Try McAfee. You can find their website online and download the software you want or you can go to a store like Circuit City or Wal-Mart and find it their.

Dont pay for norton, it slows down windows.
There are a number of free anti-virus software packages available including AVG, avast and spybot that are really good.
I use avg, go to http://free.grisoft.com/ and and click download on the free basic edition. This will install and scan your computer for malware and viruses and remove them for you.
Also download and install the antispyware. This will remove any trojans and spyware. Go to http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-fre… and click download at the bottom of the free version.

If you want the best try kaspersky or avira. Both got high scores on detection and removal plus they are light on system resources.

No PC security product can possibly protect you from every new spyware and malware threat. Some of these new threats would be undetected by most of the popular security programs, including the ones we all use. Some antivirus will detect spywares but can't delete them so don't think they don't work is just that they are not designed to solve those issues. In general, Windows does not allow the deletion of files when they are in use. However, Safe Mode will only load a minimum amount of drivers and services to run Windows, giving removal a better chance. Scan again and attempt to delete while your computer is in safe mode. Be patient because this take some time to get it done and do it at list once per month.
Here is a list softwares so you can create your own security suite based on freewares, this not only will secure your computer but also boost its performance.
Anti virus: Just run one antivirus on your PC, both options are great but i recommend AVG.
Kapersky is one of the best but isn't free.
