Hi there.
I’ve recently purchased an Hp laptop. That meant I had to buy Anti-Virus and Anti-spyware and all that stuff that protects my laptop. The people at Bestbuy recommended TrenMicro Antivirus 2008 and Webroot Spy Sweeper. I didn’t take them out of the boxes and I still have the receipt so I can still return them.
I need info on where I can get Anti-Virus, Spyware, Adware and all those stuff that will protect my computer for free. I’ve tried downloading some antivirus stuff from the internet. But it usually gave me trials and I don’t want that stuff. I want stuff that I just have to download once, install, and never have to worry about my laptops security. I also don’t want stuff that slows down my laptop. That is why I didn’t install trend micro yet because it said 1gb memory is needed.
Also tell me the stuff you use. Thanks a lot.

These days you need much more than just an antivirus protection.

Antispyware:
First of all I have spywareterminator.This is a great antispyware.It also has antivirus but don't install that because it will conflict with avast or antivir and it uses Clamwin which is not sucha good antivirus.Only install protection against spyware.

Then I use spybot search and destroy.I only use it to scan.Don't install the security center.

Then i have superantispyware.There is a free and a pro version of superantispyware.I use the free one.The difference between both is that the free version doesnt have a realtime shield.

Then I have spywareblaster.This doesn't scan for spyware but it immunizes your browser.

Oh by the way….
Avast is a good antivirus but on the ther hand AVG does absolutely nothing.Completly useless,I doubt it ever finds one bloody virus.It once picked up a trojan horse on my pc….and guess what…It wasn't actually a trojan horse.
Every single AVG product sucks sorry.
EDIT2:
Avast! is also better than trend micro.Trend micro slows down ur pc and it has a low detection rate.
Spysweeper is good but it does nothing that all the programs that I recommend don't do.

Well, by the sounds of it you either want AVG free version or you can get the free edition of Avast.
I'd probably reccomendd the free edition of Avast but the AVG one is good aswell.

To get for free I would recommend a very good antivirus and also antispyware from Grisoft . But download a free version of AVG antivirus .

Try either AVAST or AVG Anti virus for free , both are good and
support registered home users for free with update facility .
