other than norton, which is a very good antivirus protection software? please recommend ones that you've used and are happy with.
i have windows vista, and my norton 60-day trial just expired, and to renew it it's 50 dollars. i've had norton, but it slowed down my other computer…so i'm looking for something else. i need something that will still offer a lot of protection though, cuz i do a lot of surfing and what-not. details, please, thanks!

Notice I did not mention Norton or McAfee, there is a reason for this. Even though they are fairly good, they are resource hogs and will use up way more memory than what a security software should. Bottom line….they STINK!!!!!!
Keep in mind that, unlike anti-malware, you can only have one anti-virus installed on your computer at a time. You will need to download the installation file for the AV of your choice (I hope you still have Norton active on your computer). Once you have the installation file, physically disconnect from the internet, by unhooking the CAT5 cable from your ethernet port. Then uninstall Norton by going to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Software and get rid of Norton. Then you can install the new AV of your choice. Once installed, reconnect to the internet and get any and all updates and new definition files for that software. Then scan your computer.
Hope this helps you!!!!!!
