I keep getting “Antivirus Trigger” warning pop-ups directing me to purchase their protection. It redirects my internet pages and I can’t get rid of it. It has shut down the AntiSpy capability on Yahoo Toolbar. This just showe dup today. Has anyone else gotten this and how do I get rid of it. McAfee doesn’t recognize it in a scan.

Antivirus Trigger is a rogue software application designed to trick users into buying a fake product by using scare tactics
How to remove Antivirus Trigger, rogues, and other malware
Download and update
The free versions can detect and remove
Malwarebytes AntiMalware

and
SuperAntiSpyware

Scan in Safe Mode

If you have trouble downloading via website then download and update in Safe Mode with Networking and you also may need to clean your hosts file

Daniel provides a good start for getting rid of it. However Malware and super don't remove the other tools the virus installs.
In total, there is a browser hijacker, trojan, back door sub-routine, worm, archive bomb, key logger and a standard virus.
Malware bytes eliminates the hijacker. You'll also need to run adaware, AVG and spybot SD. I also ran CCleaner to fix the registry which it gutted. (I also had to go to http://www.download.com and navigate to each program since the hijacker re-routed all search engine searches)
After downloading all of the tools, disconnect your computer from the internet (It launches a web browser every 10 minutes which checks to see if the files are installed and updates the virus.)
Then install the programs and restart your computer in safe mode. From there, run everything you have downloaded. It has to be in safe mode. Running the programs in regular mode allows the virus to protect itself from being deleted.
Once you've done this, find another computer (one you know has not been infected) and change all of your passwords.
In summary
Download Adaware, Spybot, CCleaner, AVG and Malware bytes.
Disconnect your computer (physically disconnect) it from the internet
Install all the programs you've downloaded
Restart in Safe mode
Run all the programs (do it twice to be sure)
Restart
Reconnect
Change passwords.

here’s manual Antivirus Trigger removal: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirustrigger.html this malware is very new, that might be the reason why your security tools can’t deal with it yet.

Here are some manual removal instructions -

It looks like it is a clone of other viruses, which is maybe why your antivirus software can’t remove find it. You may have to manually remove it…

Justin’s additions to Daniel’s info was close enough for me get all of the AntivirusTrigger cleaned off the machine and to get up and running. The only note I will add is that a couple of the programs needed to get info from the internet while running, so run what you can then plug back into the net and run the rest. Once I got back to normal windows I unplugged the net connection and ran everything again.
Thanks for the help guys!
