I recently got Antivrus XP 2008 onto my computer, I used ctrl+alt+del and went to the “Processes” tab and stopped it, I then searched for “rhcvc” which was part of the file name that it ran under. After deleting that I then did a Malwarebytes “Quick Scan” and deleted what it found, now I’m doing a full scan right now. The whole Quick Scanning and the ctrlaltdel trick, combined with deleting the files should have killed it according to the guide that I used. But I’m still having a few problems. These include:
*Megavideo videos don’t load, Youtube videos also dont load properly all the time
*Loading speed for searches and stuff is extremely slow
*I still have the Antivirus XP screensaver and Desktop wallpaper
*When I finally do search and find something (I use firefox) when I go to click the link for one of the search results, instead of going to thepage it opens up some wierd search engine in a new tab.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this for good? I don’t want to loose another computer and I cant buy a new one…I know my antivirus is expired and it dosn’t work like it should, I can’t find any free antiviruses so..I can’t fix the problem that way.
New details: My computer seems to freeze after a certain period of time and also downloads dont work when I try to use them, I get some random error iether saying they cant find somethingorother or something about Win32?(This error happened for jr's first download suggestion) I never got to download the others because the computer froz up again.

Turn off system restore. Right click my computer>properties>system restore> check mark the turn off system restore. This step is helpful due to your system restore possibly being infected.
Download this:
http://www.pctools.com/mirror/sdasetup.exe
save it on your desktop then run it.
Download and install CCleaner to clean off all of the junk that’s left over.

Also download Avast anti-virus (free)
http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?part=dl-AvastHome&subj=dl&tag=button&cdlPid=10867956
Set it up and schedule a boot time scan
Hope it works out for you.
**After that is done I would also delete the user profile. If you are not familiar on how to back your data up, don’t this step because you will loose your settings along with any files you might have on that profile.***

you hadn’t deleted all the malicious files installed by antivirus xp 2008, that’s why it still appears. antivirus xp puts more than just one file on a computer. here’s removal tutorial http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-antivirus-xp.html follow the guidelines and antivirusxp 2008 should be gone. i could recommend some security tools, but you said the computer is really slow, so downloading something probably wouldn’t work.
