Security.
They have very different functions.
Antivirus - protects against malware, including real-time protection.
Important note, this does not include firewall.
Internet security suite gives you a firewall and phishing protection, etc.
All in one security suite is what you need. It gives you total protection, on and off line.
I use Bitdefender, but Norton has the best reviews (depending where you go)

I am always on the look out for light, easy to use security “suites” that I can recommend to people who aren’t that interested in computers. I like PC Tools Firewall Plus, Avira AntiVir and Spyware Terminator as a pretty decent and manageable combination. All three can be tweaked to give as few “alerts” as possible without compromising security. (Yes - Comodo is a better firewall but it can be hard for a novice to configure.)

I’m using Norton Internet Security. For a couple of reasons. I got tired of messing with 3 or 4 different software for security. I always stayed away from Security Suites because they slow down computers. Not the case with Norton. Is Norton the Best, yes it is for Me. A friend of mine uses Kaspersky he says that it’s the best and I agree with him. It is the best for him. They are a lot of good Anti-Virus programs. A lot of good Internet Suites. Find one that has good detection, runs good on your computer. Then just enjoy your computer.

Comodo Internet Suite…. Free and real powerful.
Launched in the last week of October 08. Not many are aware of it.
Trust me, it comes with Antivirus, malware and a firewall and is real solid as compared to Bitdefender and Kaspersky suites
What more can we ask for, it is free for all.

That’s for my test machine where I import malware and visit malicious sites. On my main computer I have pretty much the same but all of my surfing is within a sandbox, so the risk of infection is Zero.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) 2009 which is a suite
and I have never been infected because blocks everything.
9 BJ Freeman // Nov 20, 2008
saying that you virus software is good becuase you never have been infected is like saying there are no elephants in you front yard because of the elephant repellent you are using.
NONE, I repeat, NONE of the virus software will protect you from a new virus that has not be reported.
there is a 4-72 hour lag from the time a virus is first reported by someone and an update to you virus protection on your computer assuming you have automatic updates that run frequently.
Fire walls for are port protection not viruses.
it is always best to have a hardware Fire wall.
