Any help with i/o device error?

September 27th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hello there pretty new to the site but was wondering if you could give me some advice. Recently brought WAR on the 18th got it home and started the installation. Now cd 1 installed fine then got the prompt to insert war2, which i did but the cd light just went mad blinking like a manic after a while it just refused to recognise the cd thinking it was a faulty disc i took it back and got a new copy of the game.

Now tried to install the game again and the same error crops up. Ive been on the WAR online help section and tried pretty much all they suggest from downloading the cd contents to my comp (which worked for cd1 but not 2 it gets to start the copying but then give a msg of: ‘Can not copy Art2 the request could not be performed because of an I/O device Error) to turning of norton, emptying my temp files etc, I’ve also tried the device manager fix route but this gives no joy either

So any help for a guy who wants to play the game i know the comp can handle the game as it was running AoC ok and the spec’s are well over the minimum stated. Would it be a error with my cd/dvd drive or something more sinster?

thanks for any help/ advice
