I currently have Norton Antivirus installed on my computer. But it expires in 30 days. I’m looking at all my options and was wondering if anyone knew any free programs that work well. I might end up buying Norton, but what I have heard is when you buy Norton it’s only good for a year or so, then it expires. Norton and McAfee has worked well on my computers in the past. Curious if there are any other programs that work just as good.
Please provide the name of the program and a link or web address if possible.
Let me know how well the program has worked for you, any problems with it? How long does the version last if it’s a trial version?

Norton is absolutely horrible, get rid of it now. Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, buy Norton.
They bundle their crap anti virus with new laptops because if they didn't then people would never use them. Their marketing scheme is to get people who don't know much about computers to buy their software after it expires because they don't know what else to do.
Some absolutely free, excellent antivirus's are listed below, in order of my preference.
1. Avira Antivir - excellent. I use it. http://www.avira.com/en/pages/index.php
2. Avast http://www.avast.com/
3. AVG http://free.avg.com/
Any one of those is 100 times better than norton. Get rid of Norton ASAP and install avira.
Norton is a system resource hog and a very poor antivirus in general.

AVG Free is pretty good, I work at staples and we use that with Norton 360 but all my friends there that have been working there for a while think norton sucks and slows down your computer. McAfee is pretty good though, they have have a few things free I think after rebates at a few stores, I suggest checking for those.
