Since it looks like money is not an issue for you
I would suggest dual booting Vista AND XP. That way you have both operating systems in case you need one or the other.
If you want/need/can have only one, however, then from a gaming standpoint I would say go with XP. It's faster than Vista, and has fewer compatibility issues.

That is quiet a computer you have there! Why do you have 8GB ram? Most OS's won't detect all of that…just upto 3gb for vista/xp 32bit. I would get Vista 64bit that will detect all the RAM but some games mite not work on the 64bit edition but games that do will run like a dream =)
Cheers,

Stay with Windows XP if you go vista your computer will be slow and vista is so buggy, stay with XP Microsoft said they would let XP to be longer shelf life so who knows what they could do to XP?

I'm a strong advocate for "if it's not broke, don't fix it". However, you have hardware that XP is not capable of optimizing. Your configuration is capable of handling all the bogus excess processing power that Vista demands. That being said, embrace Vista and put up with it's flaws. Vista is designed to take advantage of yours specs and XP won't even recognize half of your hardware's potential.
For me, this is an extremely rare endorsement of Vista. Just on a side note…. Dude, 8GB of DDR3 RAM???? WTF, either you have way too much disposable income or you just don't have any room for lag… Either way, that's ballin' and I give you props.

Well, if you want to pay money for Microsoft to take away 10GB;s of space you currently have sure, but you will want that back when you need more space for games. OH and vista is very unstable and half the games you currently have will not work once you install vista. Everything about Vista is worse then when they were building the subway in boston.
