I am using D-Link router model DI-524. It workers perfectly while using it as a unsecured connection. But as soon as I make it secured and keep password, it does not works. My laptop says it found a signal and is connected but I internet does not work.
Can somebody help me to setup my router?
Thank you all in advance.

Do Required setting in Your Security settings for your FireWall in Router
I am using a Shiro ADSL Router upto 26 Mbps and had the same problem
Just Fix it for Outgoing / Incoming Connection and you will be okay

Once you enable the security on the router, you need to delete the cached connection settings on your computer and set it up again.
I suggest WPA-PSK with AES (not WEP or WPA-PSK TKIP).
Once you enable it on the router, Right click the tray icon for the Wireless and click View available networks.
On the left, click "Change order of Preferred Networks"
Select your network on the left and click Properties
Now set the encryption WPA-PSK and enter in your passphrase twice.
Click OK/CLose on all windows. Disable the connection then re-enable it (don't click repair). Or better yet reboot.
This is for XP. I won't dare give you the Vista method…

These old Dlink routers are sometimes flaky. The sister to this the DI-514 were notorious for dropping connections and rebooting and freezing. You might check for a newer firmware from Dlink but I wouldn't expect much difference. I think the system components on these were of variable quality and as such not worth wasting too much time or energy on. My sister has one and just uses it as a wired router which it does fairly well, but then again she only uses it to surf and do email. I recall it as somewhat slow under P2P.
I would suggest that you get one of the Linksys WRT54G units. They work OK out of the box and are quite reliable. They also have available hacked firmware such as DD-WRT and Tomato that allow for much more fine grained control and options.

You have to add the same security settings to your wireless adapter that you added to the router. Either use windows built in wireless configuration or the utility for your adapter (if installed).
