Use free AVG. This is a great application and is free.

Based on various reviews (was researching myself today), i’d say Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009

Norton Antivirus is by far the best.
Remember Antivirus only, none of the rest, none of there security suite.

Free antivirus programs are the best. I recommend Avira Antivir, but a lot of others use Avast or AVG.

Do not buy anything for best buy, they are crooks. Look online at a place like amazon and see which software has the best reviews.
Or you could not buy any antivirus software and just not open any suspicious files. In addition, you can run free online virus software (link below) once a week just to make sure. I’ve been doing this for years without anything close to a problem.

Norton AntiVirus and you can buy and download it from Symantec.com online. Most corporations use Norton and there are several home versions available in a range of prices depending on what you’ll need.

Hi
There’s no one “best” product, you have to try several and decide on one that works for you. Also, just because something is inexpensive does not necessarily reflect on the quality. For example, Avast free is just as good as most commercial antivirus.
If you want a security suite, I would recommend Norton Internet Security Suite or Kaspersky Security Suite. Norton is very light, has VERY constant updates (every 5-10 minutes, compared to usually daily updates by other companies). Kaspersky has a few extra features which are useful. Also, Kaspersky limits the rights of unknown programs - this is very effective at blocking malware.
Both of the suite’s detection is excellent.

go to symantec.com and purchase Norton 360, they will download it for you. it’s cheaper to buy it on line than from best buy.

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
It is free for home use, but I am sure that they would appreciate it if you purchased it. You can do that as well even thought it is not required.
If you just want to buy something in a box go with Mcaffe.
You might also want to try clamwin (www.clamwin.com). It is free and really good -though !!!!!! It does not do real time scanning !!! You have to manually run a scan when you want to check for viruses, but it makes a great backup.
