I am running AVG Free 7.5 and an AVG pop-up told me there is no support for 7.5 after 5/31/08. I want to switch to Avast 4.8 because it seems like there are some issues with AVG 8.0. Is it better/safer to download Avast and just save it to the desktop without running the install, then uninstall AVG, then reboot, then run the Avast install off the desktop? Or should I simply uninstall AVG, reboot, and then download and run Avast install all at once? Also, should I keep AdAware and SpyBot or uninstall those to avoid a conflict with Avast? Your help would be most appreciated and thanks! KenBee

I would uninstall AVG, reboot, then download and install Avast! 4.8. I have not had any problems on my other PC with having Ad-aware installed, but spybot might because it has its own resident protection as well as Avast!, so I would get rid of Spybot.

The way you have described will work perfectly. Also, you should keep Adaware and Spybot. There will be no problems running these alongside Avast.
