I am getting so confused… I have AOL that comes with McAfee "Special Edition from AOL" I downloaded Avast last night because I felt there were bugs in my computer and Avast found 4 malware programs, right now I have McAfee disabled, but have not uninstalled it… What program is better?
and I understand Avast 4.8 Professional does not have a firewall? I am not worried about paying for good virus/spyware/adware/firewall protection, so I was wondering what firewall is compatable with Avast, and which program is better, Mcafee or Avast, or if there is a better anti-virus out there then either of them? I am running on Windows Vista
Mcafee is free for AOL users.
I have just read so many conflicting reviews for McAfee, and Avast…I just want the best program, what about Avira?
I forgot to add the reason why I asked is because Mcafee scanned over 600,000 files and Avast only scanned 515,000 which didn’t make sense. And is keeping Mcafee disabled enough? Or should I completely remove it?

I use Norton Internet Security 2009, it has a excellent firewall and I have used Norton for yrs. with no problems. The new 2009 version is even faster and better.

Avast is a freebie, based outside the US. McAfee isn’t free, but is operated within the US. The antivirus quality is probably comparable, but McAfee packs so much more in its software, such as the little-known ‘QuickClean’ app, under the ‘Maintain Computer’ link on SecurityCenter. Run that and it cleans registry, junk and temp folders and more. I also love the Data Backup program. Importantly, McAfee’s firewall also blocks unauthorized ‘outbound’ traffic. You install some freeware…it tries to send your personal data to China. Without McAfee, it will be in Beijing in seconds.

So you had Mcafee on your computer for protection. You downloaded Avast pro and it found 4 malware programs that Mcafee missed and you want to know which is better Avast or Mcafee. I’m just wondering why you asked that. Most of the firewalls out there will run with Avast. Zonealarm, Outpost, Onlline Armor, Comodo. In a couple of months Avast is redoing all of their security programs. They will have a Internet Security suite coming out then. Also Avast is going to add a sandbox feature which will give users rock solid protection while online. Those of us who already use a sandbox, already know how much it adds to security. It’s nice that the anti-virus companies are finally catching on. With Kaspersky also adding this feature in two weeks, and Zonealarm extreme security using it also.
You should remove Mcafee, even if it’s disable it can cause problems.

Ever thought who creates viruses and where does he get paid from? Do virus creator work for free? Do they find enough credit card information which they could draw funds from?
No… The fact is the Antivirus companies outsource contracts to create viruses and infect the computers all around so they could sell their antivirus software.
This is how they have been fooling around millions of computer users for many years.
