avast anti-virus chest problem?

June 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments

in my avast anti-virus chest,
when i click on system files, it comes up with kernal32.dll, winsock.dll and wsock32.dll

Why are they in the system files of the chest and is it ok to delete them?
no there not viruses or infected,
they just show up in the system files tab.

You can NEVER delete these files!!!

Kernal32.dll is a core system file. Winsock files are part of your Internet accessibility.

Any anti-virus processor that finds a virus in these files should have a way to fix them.

Do not delete. As long as they are in the Chest's System Files, that is normal, everyone has them. They are used as a backup if ever needed. For example without winsock.dll you would have no internet access.

      From Avast "Help":

"System files. avast! copies important system files during the installation into this category."

      Nothing to worry about.
