avast anti virus what is it good for?

avast anti virus started scanning my pc at boot up so as of right now i am using my fiancee laptop. my complete question is i have a issue booting due to what is said on my monitor - boot sector!! virus: continue Y/N? -
how can i get rid of what ever is making this boot issue?

I always have to go to bios to set the boot sequence and i know i should not have to, please help!

any code for command prompt?

      Check in your BIOS to see if there’s an antivirus section and if it’s enabled. If so disable it.
      then install… then after installing reenable the antivirus in your bios.
