I got a trojan horse virus (dropper) within the last 24 hours, and my Avast! antivirus quarantined it for me. I deleted all the files from the chest except for 3 system files: kernel32.dll, winsock.dll, and wsock32.dll.
Okay, so I have done some research now, and I know what kernel32.dll is and what it does. Obviously I can't delete it. If it's showing up in my virus chest on Avast! home edition, that means that it's infected, right? On other forums, some people say it's easy to replace the file, but others say that this is risky and would probably not help anyway.
Please help me figure out what I should do!!!

If you put the file in the chest that should stop it from doing anything harmful to the computer. I wouldn't delete the file because it is a main file for the computer. Schedule a boot scan and restart the computer. It will scan before the computer fully starts and will most likely find more virus's if you have been infected by one. The boot scan will give you options to fix the problem and your computer should be fine after that.
