I am getting really frustated with my AVG 8.0 free edition as it keeps saying the database is 'out-of-date' even though I have up-dated several time.
I have even redownloaded and it keeps doing the same thing. before telling to check AVG website I have and I have followed instructions to FAQ 923 on database updates and it was useless.
Please someone help before I throw my laptop out of the window!!!
The AVG has updated and updates everyday at 1200. The updating does not seemed to be a problem as it confirms that the update has been completed… there is something else wrong.

A good antivirus program checks for updates once a day - every day. So if you downloaded a database update on Wednesday it would be out of date today.

I had the same problem, with AVG reporting that both my anti-virus and anti-spyware databases were out of date. I checked out the FAQ on fixing it and found that if I set the date a week behind, checked for updates, then set my computer back to the correct date and restarted my computer, everything in AVG was up to date. I had tried to reset the date on my computer before, but I’d never restarted it immediately afterwards, so perhaps the same will work for you…
