I'm running a Windows Vista Home Premium laptop and my AVG 8.0 (free edition) antivirus software has stopped working, it says I have to restart my laptop so the updates will work but everytime I restart it says the same thing. This has been happening for about 2 or 3 weeks now. I was going to uninstall to re-install it or install avast! or Norton or something, but everytime I go to control panel > Uninstall a program, it says it cannot be removed cos it can't find the backup file or something like that. I really need some software because I really don't want my laptop to get a virus, but I'm wary of downloading another program because it can cause system crashes and things running 2 antivirus programs. What should I do - how do I uninstall it? Or should I install another antivirus software anyway since my AVG is broken? Sorry for the essay guys but any help is much appreciated! thanks x
