ok so the past few days i've been trying to update my AVG Free 8.0 security system, and every time i press update it tells me i have to restart the computer for it to update, so i click yes the computer restarts and i go back to AVG to make sure it updated alright and it didn't update at all! it just asks me to restart again. this has been happening for a few days now where it restarts the computer a couple times but never actually updates. and now i'm freaking out becuz my windows security center (that shield) turned red and said i may not be protected and my AVG is saying that the anti-spyware and anti-virus database is outdated. but it won't update it just restarts my computer !!!
help please i really like AVG and i don't want to change to another security system

Did u tried to reinstall the AVG

you may need to uninstall it and reinstall it probably did not download correctly

I really liked AVG as well, I was having exactly the same problem as you it just would not update, in the end I changed to Avast and have had no problems at all get it free from - http://www.download.com

Are you using your own computer? Doesn't your computer have any deep freeze installed?Mostly, this happens when a computer is under deep freeze and when restarted, the original settings will back to its previous state before the computer is installed with deep freeze.
anyway, try to download the latest AVG and and reinstall it again. get it at http://www.grisoft.com
