Okay. I'm using AVG Free Edition and it has like updates everyday. Whenever I open my computer, it automatically downloads an update (of which I turned it the option on or yes). Now my question is, is AVG the best free anti-virus program? is it normal to have updates everyday? I feel like my computer is not that protected with AVG. Finally, do you agree with this http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/null/82713;_ylt=Am3sW2R_7.8jUODxIbDl8wvxMJA5
that those two free anti-virus software is better than AVG?
Thanks! I'm planning to change my free avg anti-virus with either one of those free programs as well. I think it is much better.. Tell me the pros and cons and stuffs.. Thanks in advance!

I have AVG free edition and I too get fed up with updates everyday I turn on the computer or during a web search. It slows the computer down and seems to take ages to load which is strange. Thanks for the link. I am going to try the top one - Alwil - as it says it is unobtrusive and detects spyware and adware. AVG has a separate free spyware remover, so Alwil sounds a better deal.

"Here are some of my personal thoughts on the best antivirus products on the market, both free and commercial."
AVG is the best among the free ones. Also, he's saying Trend Micro PC cilling is best among paid.
But according to statistics, Bit defender is the best.

I don't have any problems dealing with the AVG free edition. And I'm using it for almost three years now. And all of my friends are using it too. My sister uses it too in her internet cafe. Although, AVG don't have the anti-spyware, I have with me the the windows defender pre-installed on my laptop. Since I don't have problem dealing with AVG, I will not change it.

AVG is not doing so well as compared to the other free commercial anti virus programs. It used to be good the last few years, but not anymore. I strongly recommend AntiVir, which is currently one of the best free anti virus around.
Oh yeah, I'd like to point out to the other guy who quoted that AVG was one of the best, well that was way back in 2006. Please check out the latest review and see where AVG stand.
