I have AVG Free anti-spyware, and after I scanned my computer I get a list of all the threats/warnings, spyware, etc.
My problem is that the only options I have are to "remove selected infections" and "remove all unhealed infections".
To me, the word "remove" seems vague, and I want to know if I click one will it
A) Delete/heal the infection?
B) Quarantine it? or
C) Ignore/remove it from the list?
I need something that is VERY effective then, because according to AVG, I have 1032 warnings.
I am trying to fix the family computer that my little brother used to download numerous free games, add-ons, ect.
UGH.

I think avg only quarantines and does not delete.
Really AVG is not the best.
1. AVG Free
a. A simple interface (easier to use than Avast! and Avira)
b. Can detect about 82.82% of viruses
Cons: low virus detection
2. Avast!
a. Real-time protection
b. It has an option to delete a virus once found
c. Can detect about 87.46% of viruses.
Cons: Too many icons and confusing user interface
3. Avira AntiVir
a. It can detect malware better than Avast and AVG
b Can detect about 94.26% of viruses
Cons: A very sluggish update

Select remove all unhealed then check you quarantine. If the program has moved them there then selct disinfect/delete all quarantined items ect to get rid.
Personally, I would recommend using Fsecure for the 30 day trial internet security suite. I use it and it gets rid of 99.9% of nasties and is excellent in stopping them from being downloaded in the first place.

I would uninstall AVG and install a good Internet Security Suite.
I have been there, done that with the FREE stuff and honestly it is wholesale rubbish.
I now use Norton Internet Security 2008.
Yeah it costs, but at $45, thats 90 cents per week, it is good value.
McAfee is just as good.
