Yeah, I'm having more AVG problems… this time, I just logged onto the computer and a Window's Security Update thing popped up over my AVG icon at the bottom of the screen saying that my Internal Virus Database was out of date. So I hit 'Check for Updates' and it said that all necessary updates had been performed already, meanwhile, there's still an exclamation point in a red box and next to it, it says "The red highlighted components are in an error state! Please pay urgent attention to their configuration!" The version I have (7.5.524, for those of you who didn't see it in the question) is the last 7.5 version before 8.0. I do not want to download/update to 8.0 because I've had it before and it massively slowed down the computer. I downloaded manual updates from the AVG Free website, but I do not know how to install them. The help section was very unhelpful when it came to installing updates- it said to click where it says 'Folder' and find the file, but I don't see that anywhere.
ATTENTION: I have checked my time and date settings, THEY ARE FINE. I've actually checked them three times. Right now, it says that it is June 11th, 2008 at 12:00 pm. That's right.

AVG Version 7 is being discontinued. You'll need to download and install version 8. It won't do this automatically which is very annoying.
I agree about the speed, but AVG have made it clear that there were going to be no more database updates for version 7 after the end of May.

I would get rid of AVG altogether. I did. I downloaded CyberDefender Free 2.0 (which is free) and I love it. I use nothing else now. It gets 90-95% of problems and remember none get 100%. I do run my Ad-Aware occasionally to get the other 5% if out there.

Try restarting the computer.
AVG 8 has not slowed my computer significantly.

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete..and from the list of programs, choose AVG and click End Task. Re-start AVG. If you still continue to get the same message, its bad news!!! It means, you definitely need to upgrade up to AVG 8.0 (even though u hate it). This might be an intentional move by AVG to make users use AVG 8.0. So if you dont like AVG 8.0, you probably might want to consider switching to some other free anti-virus software.
