The last time it updated was 8/24. When I tell it to “Update Now” it says updating, but it never downloads or installs anything.
Does anyone know what the problem may be?

The problems can be:
1. AVG Free Version 8 comes with 1 month trial period so it may be expired.
2. The address of website from where it update virus definition may be changed or removed from the software.
