AVG FREE vs NORTON Antivirus: Is my NORTON, which I pay about $40 a year better than others who have AVG FREE?

  in all honesty no it is not better,
  avg out performs norton by a mile,
  BUT avast is even better.

  I have Norton on my pc and AVG on my laptop. It seems that Norton slows the pc down much more than AVG does on my laptop. I honestly think that AVG is better than Norton. The only issue I have with AVG free is that it constantly wants to update. Other than that I have no issue with it.

  Norton is far better than any free antivirus product like AVG but the product is not user friendly and sometimes slows your computer.   No Norton is not much better than AVG free. But this is all opinion, more than fact.
  I have been using various Antivirus programs for the last 10 years. The problem is that none of them are perfect. None of them can cover all of the various forms of viruses that are being created as I write this. They all can protect to a certain point but sometimes even the most auspicious site can contain a new threat.
  For slowing down, Norton does slow down computers, but the paid version of AVG does the same thing. I got rid of the paid AVG and went back to the free version because of this.
  McAfee is not much better than the free AVG, and it costs more than Norton, about $75.00 a year. Avast is good but it still does not compare to Paretologic. But not one of them offer complete protection.
  What you need is to have a good Spyware program separate of your Antivirus and a Registry program that can tell when your registry has been changed and fix it, or restore it.
  You can go to Majorgeeks.com and explore all of the Freeware and get one of each there. Or you can pay for the services of others that are offered.
  I have 2 Antivirus programs on my computer but l leave one dormant, so that there is no conflict. I have AVG and Paretologic. I also use Spyware Detector and I use Spyware Terminator, and I have two Registry repair programs.
  But even with all of this there are new adware, and virus programs being created that can get by these precautions. You have to treat them individually as they appear. And that, is another topic.
