July 21st, 2008 · 6 Comments

so now i hate it. i REAAAAAAAAAALY want avg and i dunt know anything about it and umm im scared my mom might yell at me cuz she spent $70 on norton so yea. is there anyway someone can explain to me about norton or which is better so i can tell my mom???
i think avg is better than norton cuz lots of ppl like it
since u said that i can't replace it with avg, does that mean i have to wait until the norton subsccription expires? -_-. i think i got norton 360 or the internet security

I have AVG and would never have Norton it slows down your computer and is difficult to remove from your hard drive

How 'bout none of the above? Try Avast! anti-virus, it's free and WAY better than both AVG and Norton combined. You can download it free but you need to register (Free) to get your license key.

Norton is a resource hog. It will slow your computer down like hell, and since it is almost always impossible to remove the regular way, symnatec even offers a remover tool to remove norton. That's why it slows down your computer, because it digs so deep into your resources.
I highly recommend you get AVG 7.5 internet security suite (8.0 has way too many issues for the moment and it even blocks off internet access on certain computers), or you could get my recommendation, Kaspersky internet security 7/2009 (depends on your region). Kaspersky is about 70 dollars for a 3 computer liscence, and i find it supperior to all other security suits out there.
So yeah, get either AVG internet security 7.5 or the latest version of Kaspersky internet security. (or you could get a lisence for AVG 8.0 but download 7.5. To my knowledge, the liscence will work with both.

      Cheers,
      Luca

Get AVG free edition and Spybot-Search & Destroy. Both are freewares, compatible with each other and lite on your system's memory. update definitions and uninstall norton. You will be glad you did so to the resource hog. Both in combination provide excellent protection. AVG scans for viruses and Spybot takes care of adwares, spywares and trojans.

AVG is wildly popular with children and the computer illiterate but has historically had the lowest virus detection rate of all the popular free anti-virus programs.

There are much better free anti-virus alternatives such as Avria Anti-Vir:
      http://www.free-av.com/
      and Avast:

If you properly configured Norton, you would have no issues with downloading.

Plus at $70, your mommy probably bought Norton Internet Security, which is a complete security suite. You can not replace a suite with a simple anti-virus such as AVG.

I hate Norton. I better recommend AVG.
