My Norton Antivirus was due to run out tomorrow so I downloaded AVG 8.0.0.2 FREE version, went to install it and got this message - “Another antivirus/security product is currently installed on this computer! It is not advisable to have more than one antivirus product running on the same computer.” etc, so I canceled that installation, went into add/remove programs, uninstalled Norton and even the crappy antispyware thing I had in there, rebooted and still get the same message. I have looked into add/remove again and see NOTHING except Windows Defender but I’m not sure this is even the problem? I also used Windows Install Cleanup and saw nothing there. Any advice?
Here is the exact message I got.

Extended info:
Ok I tried Norton Uninstaller to no prevail, well I still get the same message upon rebooting and trying AVG installation again.
I ran CCleaner and it removed 41.0 MB of junk, do I need to reboot again?
I cannot for the life of me find anything even resembling an antivirus! And what sucks is now I have no protection.
Here is a long, but full list of every single thing listed in my add/remove programs.

Go to start, search and look for norton antivirus, files have a tendency of hiding everywhere

norton requires the removal tool to uninstall it properly, do a search in google for Norton Removal Tool and run the latest tool, reboot and your pc should be free for AVG to install.

go off line
files have an habbit of linking back to their home page when un-installing.
look in ~
add and remove and all programs
delete all norton files.
check also for symantec files ~a norton trademark name.
you could also install and run ~ccleaner~(free) it will remove any cookies left by norton files.
ccleaner is worth leaving on and running at least weekly to remove cookies and temp files left every time you browse the web.
it will help speed up browsing and get you some memory back
hope this helps
