AVG says I have McAfee on my computer, but I can’t find it via search or in my add/remove program list?

November 6th, 2009 · 4 Comments

As the title suggests. Can’t find it anywhere…my computer’s telling me I don’t have it, but AVG won’t update unless I get rid of it.

I have the paid version of AVG, not the free one, and I’m trying to upgrade to the newest available version that was just released recently.

If you used the add/remove program to remove it at one time, you have fragments,, Get and use the free McAfee removal tool to rid yourself of any fragments remaining.

      RIGHT click START.

      Click EXPLORE.

Look for the folder (probably McAfee).

From that folder look for an executable file that should have something that says UNINSTALL or close to it. If not, look for it in another subfolder.

DOUBLECLICK that file and it will launch the uninstall program.
