avast is better cause it offers more futures than avg.it includes a network shield that adds a extra layer on your firewall and email scanning,on access scanner,web shield to delete harmful files as they are downloaded.see 4 yourself

offcourse avast home is better as it offers more features than avg. this is my personal experience.
