First off, there is no AVG 7.5 uninstall present on this computer at all and I need to install the latest version. I have heard to just start installing the new AVG but when I do I get an error and it will not install the newer version of AVG. Here is the error that comes up after I try to install it.
Local machine: installation failed
Installation:
Error: Action failed for file _AVG7_avgtdi.sys: stopping service….
Service AvgTdi failed to progress during stopping at checpoint 0 (wait hint 10000 ms) in 91000 ms.

Don’t install AVG. I’ve seen this happen before so many times, AVG is merely another program which will install viruses into your computer.
It’s true that many people like to say that AVG is great and all, but to be honest it’s just someone playing a mean prank on you.

i wouldn’t bother with avg anyways ,get kaspersky or bit defender , ,also have you made sure their is no parts of and old install left on your machine ? do a search for avg or for the last anti virus you Had on and then delete those files if it finds any

Go to start > search > type in the avg file…..avgtdi.sys:stopping service….etc in and then delete all AVG files you find.If they refuse to delete.as some will do,then just move the files to “MY DOCUMENTS” and delete from there.I recommend you download your new AVG8 from FILE HIPPO.COM–You can also get their automatic update notifier as well,it is a brilliant little program and will give you all the latest program updates for everything on your PC-GOOD LUCK.

avg latest version is 8 and that will only work on windows xp service pack 2. r u sure that u r using service pack 2? right click on my computer icon on desktop and click properties. her u will see brief details about ur computer operating system. see if u have service pack insalled and if it is then what version. is it sp1 or sp2 or sp3. u cant install avg8 unless u update xp sp1 to sp2 or sp3. if u want to uninstall avg, try this:
To use a Safe Boot option, follow these steps: 1. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured for booting to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.
2. Select SAFE MODE when the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and then press ENTER.
now, uninstall avg 7.5. restart pc.
