She needs to install REAL virus protection. See the PCWorld reviews of antivirus programs. Note that the popular and often touted AVG free antivirus ranks at the bottom.

I cannot give you a solution unless you give me a specific description of a problem. You telling me your friend has been hacked twice.. really tells me nothing. It doesn't tell me whether a specific thing was compromised.. it doesn't tell me what damage was done.. and it certainly doesn't tell me anything whatsoever that confirms this person was actually "hacked".
The best thing anyone can tell you is to tell your friend to ensure that they have a proper security suite installed that includes antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc and is from a RELIABLE vendor (like mcafee total protection and not some freeware crap) and ensure it is properly configured and completely up to date.. the same goes for keeping windows updates current… these two things coupled with safe browsing habits and common sense could keep 99.9% of all of the people on here complaining from ever having a problem.
Good Luck

You don't seem to have any idea of how a computer gets compromised. That means you are in the majority - but what a sad majority!
Hacking means adjusting a computer to your preferences. Again a majority think otherwise - but it is still true. So you might want to also learn about how hackers are the folks who help - not the ones who break into your system.
Using the term "hacker" in the context you did is insulting both to Bill Gates (father of Microsoft) and to Linus Torvalds (father of Linux).
These days, the majority of computer compromises occur when the Bad Guys entice you to click on a link that instantly compromises your computer. It's the clicking that does it, and it's known as a "CLICK ATTACK". Yahoo Answers has been sprinkled often with "click attack" links and occasionally links are shut down completely when it gets bad.
If you go to the wrong site, your computer is OWNED by "Bad Guys Zombie Farm LLC". You CAN'T shut down all of Internet Explorer - Microsoft re-engineered to keep parts of it running so the DoJ wouldn't have them un-bundle it - so now we all suffer from its bad design - and the Bad Guys LOVE it.
Old fashioned Virus attacks? Only by script kiddies and Bad Guy wannabees. Most virus today are just tools used to boost the click attack results - and not part of the "virus in the wild" that used to be prevalent.
Best you can do is convert to Linux. Second best, you can dedicate say an hour per day keeping Windows Updates current and the following free third-party protection tools [or similar] up to date and properly used:
SpyBot [Malware removal, Registry monitoring]:
http://www.spybot.com/en/mirrors/index.html
SpywareBlaster [Malware payload "Click-attack" prevention]:

AVG Free [classic virus checker - but don't use spyware tool]:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/
ZoneAlarm (Free version) by SoftPoint [interactive trainable firewall]:
http://www.soft82.com/download/windows/zonealarm/
Good luck.

PS on the game site:
- If someone knows your girlfriend's password, they can change things any way they want. Just have her change her password - using something le33than0bv10u3 - or set up a new account with a secure password.
