Kaspersky, Norton, Mcafree or something else?
Its for my new laptop, it doesnt come with a pre loaded antivirus program.
*For uk users* I just found out Tesco have their own antivirus package! Has anyone used it? Or heard if its any good?
I'll probably go for one of the usual brands, but its always good to ask.

There is a best option, and it is kaspersky as previously mentioned.
but a program with equally good virus detection, but free, is the AVG free edition, but it does not have a registry guard or any other special features
i would pay not to have norton or mcafee, they're that bad

I've used Norton for two years (2007/2008) and I've encountered no problem.

If your going to pay from a good AV then use Nod32 (eset) or Kaspersky these are the best.
If you not got an AV at present use this free AV until you get your paid for AV:

The one not to use is AVG - just cannot do the job.

Stay away from Norton it is the worst mistake you can make. Norton use to be a good security program years ago but not anymore. Norton gave me lots of windows errors. I have also been told by friends that when they paid to renew their Norton subscription it was still telling them their subscription had expired. I recommend you get Trend Micro Internet Security.

I prefer KASPERSKY for paid if you want something for free then try either AVAST or AVG Anti virus for free , both are good and support registered home users for free with update facility .
