Best free antivirus software?

Hello :)

I'm using Windows Live OneCare (I downloaded the free trial) but I hate it. It has a new update for me every 10 minutes and the updates don't even work. I want to download a good antivirus. I don't care if it's only a trial version, I just need something better than OneCare. Links are appreciated. Thanks!
Hah. Of course my first three answerers said completely different things. But who should I believe?
