Black Screen after start up logo Windows XP?

My computer won’t load past the start up screen aka i cant get to the log in page all I see is the mouse and a black screen. However my computer loads fine in safe mode and in safe mode with networking,is their a way to fix this or do I have to reboot?
If possible can someone give me step by step instructions

      Your video driver is corrupted. Uninstall the present one, reboot (btw you should reboot at least once a day , as recommended by Microsoft), Go to ATI or NVidia driver section and download it (as in Save, not Run), close all windows and double click on the installer.
