Blue Screen?

June 28th, 2008 · 4 Comments

Hello,

Lately I keep getting the blue screen of death when i leave my computer idle for a while. The blue screen displays different errors, 2 that i remember were a disk.sys error and another that said BOGUS_DRIVER in the description. Here is the funny thing though, when this blue screen pops up i simply press enter and i am right back to where i was when i left the computer idle, no restart or anything needed. Everytime the enter thing works.

Is there any place i can see for a log of these errors to try and figure out whats going on?

Windows XP Home Service Pack 2
P4 2.8Ghz Processor
1.5GB of PC3200 ram
Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
75ish GB 10K RPM Raptor Harddrive

If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them.

Thanks You in Advance.

That sounds like a virus to me.

If it was actually the blue screen of death you sure wouldn't just be able to push enter to get rid of it. It's called the Blue Screen of Death for a reason lol

That whole "BOGUS_DRIVER" description wreaks of hacker speak to me, which would be virus-related . . . seriously how professional does that sound to you? lol

You could run your anti-virus but if it missed it the first time then it's sure not going to detect it once it's actually on the machine, likely neither is anything you download.

I would recommend that you try to restore your system back to a time before you started getting these messages. If it is a virus then the only thing that will get rid of it will be a complete wipe of the hard drive and reinstall of Windows, but the recovery option is worth a shot. If it's just a system glitch then the restoring to an earlier time should fix the issue.

      Hope this helps.

It sounds like it either a prank screen saver or some bogus advertising gimmick.

Run Spybot or Ad aware and let it find the bogus advertising. Check the screen saver by right clicking on the desktop, selecting Properties, screen saver and change it.

hmmm a blue screen that you press enter to get back. like it.

i would right click on the hard drive and select tools and do the system check and recovery for bad sectors,
it will need to use the drive so you will have to restart the pc.

most blue screens of death usually relate to memory problems where a program requests a portion of memory that is already in use so u get a blue screen.

download memtest from a google search and allow it to interrogate and put ure memory under a stress test.

but im afraid it advises u to run the memtest for hours.

it is a virus. look for some files named phcrbej0eeba. one is a bmp and the other is an exe. probably in your c/windows/system32 folder. You will need to remove both of them and then disable the program from your startup.
