Bought a usb wireless adapter, is showing up in ‘about my mac,’ how do i get the comp to *use* it? Please? ?

September 12th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I purchased a netgear wireless adapter (wg111v2). I restarted my mac g4. I checked ‘About this Mac;’ the computer had recognized its precense because it was listed under USB under hardware.

So I know the computer knows this usb adapter is there. The question is, how to I tell the computer to use it/run it so that i can get wifi?

I’m an average young person… computer savvy to a point, but no expertise. How can I get my mac to access the internet using this device?

Many thanks for your help!

When i go to "network," i have options like
'change location' and

'show' which has under it 'internal modem' and 'built in ethernet.'

When i browse round trying to figure it out, all the options seem contingent upon me *already* having told the computer to use the adapter. One setup thing asks how i connect to the internet, but has the option 'i connect wirelessly' greyed out so i cant check it. How do i tell it to connect wirelessly using that thing?!

Click on the network icon top right, connect to a network, select your router
