Can an employer take away vacation time already showed on the employess pay stub & claim "computer error?

July 9th, 2008 · 3 Comments

I have been with the same company for 5 years. They have taken away accrued vacation time that has been accruing on more than one pay stub. When I went to claim it they stated that was computer error & I was not supposed to be getting vacation time due to the hours I work have been low. This is due to them not having work for me. Not becasue I have not been working or refusing work.

It would be based on company policy. Vacation time is a perk not a right. I suppose you could sue if you wanted to, but they don't have to pay you anything if they don't want to. Unless its a federal or state job, you're probably out of luck.

if it was a computer error, then yes.

Here is how to get back at them: Start your own company, get lots of employees and give them lots of free vacations even if they didn't earn them. That'll show 'em who is really the boss.
