Can any of you advise a good anti-trojan software.?

August 13th, 2008 · 4 Comments

I have ESOT NOD 32 which is a good anti virus engine but alot of the time these anti-virus engines cant detect bad malware like trojans an worms, i have noticed a few on my computer from free trials of some programs, but alot of them appear to be rubbish, can anyone recommend a good dedicated anti trojan software????

Thanks

I prefer Bitdefender which is an antivirus but it’s really good at getting trojans and worms.

SuperAntispyware works wonders. Just google it.

ESET NOD 32 is the best you can get, along with SpyHunter 3. Be sure not to click on any of the so-called trojan/virus alerts that may pop up, as most of them are themselves trojans and spyware. ESPECIALLY STAY AWAY FROM WINDOWS ANTI-VIRUS 2008, which looks like an authentic Windows alert but is actually a rogue anti-virus, one of the worst trojan downloaders I’ve ever seen. A lot of people are getting this alert, which FALSELY says something is wrong with your computer to get you to click on it and allow it to infect your computer.

With ESET NOD 32 and SpyHunter 3, you should be set against those things. Also be sure to clean out your computer daily.

Here are a few that I use:

Windows Defender, formerly known as Microsoft AntiSpyware, is from Microsoft designed to prevent, remove and quarantine spyware in Microsoft Windows. It is part of Windows Vista and available as a free download for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

Windows Defender not only features scanning of the system similar to other free products on the market, but also includes a number of Real-Time Security Agents that monitor several common areas of Windows for changes which may be caused by spyware. It also includes the ability to easily remove ActiveX applications that are installed. Also integrated is support for Microsoft’s SpyNet network that allows users to report to Microsoft what they consider to be spyware, and what applications and device drivers they allow to be installed on their system.

Second we have SpywareBlaster, it blocks the installation of most ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers and other unwanted programs from the user’s computer. SpywareBlaster works by blacklisting the CLSID of known malware programs, effectively preventing them from infecting a protected computer. This approach differs from many other anti-spyware programs, which typically offer the user a possibility to “scan” the memory of the computer and remove the unwanted software, after it has been installed.

      * SpywareBlaster is freeware, for non-commercial users. However, a feature called
      * AutoUpdate is available for a price. The AutoUpdate feature simply checks for and installs any updates for SpywareBlaster.

Moving onto third place we have a little tool called CCleaner, this freeware is a system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history, you can also use it to manage your Windows startup there is a video over at Revver explaining how to do that.

PeerGuardian: This tool is actually mostly used to secure your file sharing experience, it does this by blocking harmful IP addresses from connecting to your system. PeerGuardian comes with an extensive list of harmful IP addresses which can be updated regularly. PeerGuardian allows you to keep a log of all your incoming connections, allowing you to backtrack and narrow down the search for a particular IP address or range of IP addresses. PeerGuardian 2 requires no driver installation, yet blocks IP addresses at a far higher speed than was previously available - never above 1% CPU usage on most test systems. On Windows 2000 and greater PeerGuardian 2 blocks at a kernel level, acting against every protocol used within the windows system.
