I used Securemaker (previously named Secretmaker) software. This is a program that is supposed to provide security & privacy. It can also block unauthorised files from running in our computer. When it prompted some driver files which I was not familiar with, I selected REJECT. Unfortunately, those turn out to be my audio & video files!! Now, I can't get any sound on my comp and there is no speaker icon on my systray. Also, in control panel, when I click SOUND AND AUDIO DEVICE, it says NO Audio Device. When I click on HARDWARE button, and trying to click on SIGMA TEL C-MAJOR AUDIO, or AUDIO CODECS, it gives me
Device Status: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19).
Steps I have tried to solve the above AND FAILED:
1. I have uninstalled the driver. Then restart and have my comp search as plug and play the audio drivers etc .. I have tried in SAFE MODE. Both attempts have failed even though ..
when I reinstall, it gives me a COMPLETE status, but I still couldn't access the audio.
2. I have tried to run 2 registry fixer software and fix all reported problems, but this has also failed.
Pls help! Tks.
Btw, I am using Windows XP.
Oh, another thing: I have also UNINSTALLED Securemaker. When that didn't work, I REINSTALL it, hoping it will prompt pop-up asking whether to allow or reject those driver files, but unfortuntately it didn't, so that didn't work either.
Yes, I am using XP. However, I tried to find the system restore to the period before it happened, but none was available.
