My computer is having issues;I know how to start it in safe mode (f8) but isnt there a way to run hardware diagnostics by hitting f9 (or is it shift f9) with the operating system disk in the drive? I went to windows home but couldnt find an answer.
I have a Dell, thats why I asked…the last time was on the phone with tech support we did it …..I beleieve it was with the OS disk in the drive.

Most computers do not have hardware diagnostics built into them that can be accessed (with the exception of Dell to my knowledge). Your best bet is to create a bootable diagnostic disk, such as http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
