Can email scanner be disabled on AVG Free 8.0.1??

May 24th, 2008 · 3 Comments

I have just updated my avg anti-virus to avg 8.0.1 free edition, and it keeps saying that email scanner is not working properly.

I don't use any email besides aol and yahoo, so is there anyway to disable it?

It keeps being "greyed" out and has the red box with exclamation mark in it, but i can't find a way to get it to work properly simply because of this email scanner.

don't think so. The reason it is free because you have ultimate limitations i.e. lots of things cannot be changed and that RAM consuming AVG update always runs. Try buying the full version but I recommend Norton 360

Uninstall it… AVG is junk. Get Ad-Aware se and Advanced WindowsCare personal from download.com Also, never install an active x from an unknown publisher. And never install free screensavers and toolbars, they are usually adware and make your system slow…

8.0 is great, i didnt bother with the free trial because i've been using AVG since day 1, i figured it has done so well for so many years i might as well start paying for it. as far as Norton and McAfee… i would never bother with those overpriced useless resource sappers. even free AVG 7.### caught stuff that Norton not only couldnt see but was infected by

i guess i didnt answer the question at all other than "yes you can if you pay for it" which, by the way, is probable 20 times less expensive and 100 times more useful than Norton.
