In xp I do it this way
1. uncheck protocalls in network connection
2. goto regestry and delete the winsock files
3. install tcp/ip through c\windows\inf it detects 1394 file and reinstalls the tcp/ip stack.
(I learned that way because
netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt NEVER WORKED)
In vista I can only find to un install and reinstall tcp/ip in this fashion
1. Click on Start button.
2. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
3. Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
4. Type netsh int ip reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
5. Restart the computer.
I’m a firm believer in doing things from Scratch especally in such a flawed operating system that Microsoft produces. Does anyone know how to do a complete uninstall and reinstall in Vista

if windows is so flawed why are you using it? have no idea if it will work the same since they completely rebuilt vista from the ground up but then i’m not sure why you would do that to begin with since you left that out. at worse just have you vista disk handy if you need to extract the file from it.
